About Mind-Reframed

Mind-Reframed: Supporting You to Navigate and Transform Emotional Challenges

At Mind-Reframed, we are dedicated to providing compassionate and expert care for individuals navigating the complexities of emotional regulation. Whether you're based in London or prefer the convenience of online sessions, we are here to support you.

We specialise in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT)—two evidence-based approaches proven to help with emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, and relationship challenges.

Originally developed for individuals experiencing intense emotions and often diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, these therapies have grown to benefit a wider audience. Today, DBT and MBT are effective for those managing a variety of emotional and relational difficulties, including individuals who are autistic or neurodivergent.

DBT’s Strengths
DBT has expanded far beyond its initial focus and is now recognised as a versatile and impactful approach. It is particularly effective in addressing:

  • Bipolar disorder
  • Substance use challenges
  • Eating disorders
  • Post-traumatic stress
  • Depression
  • ADHD
  • Emerging evidence even highlights its benefits for individuals with autism.

DBT offers a structured way to build practical skills in key areas:

  • Mindfulness and Middle Path (6 weeks)
  • Distress Tolerance (8 weeks)
  • Emotion Regulation (12 weeks)
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness (8 weeks)

These skills empower individuals to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence, self-awareness, and balance.

Why Choose Mind-Reframed?
Our team stands out as one of the few in the UK with direct expert supervision from the original clinicians and researchers at the Behavioural Tech Institute, founded by Dr. Marsha Linehan. With years of experience working in specialist NHS services, our therapists bring unparalleled expertise and a deep commitment to understanding your unique needs.

We believe in creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore, learn, and thrive. Wherever you are in your journey, we are here to help you reclaim a sense of stability, connection, and hope.

The family DBT group offered us a completely different and valuable kind of support: practical tools, shared understanding, and a sense that we weren’t alone in the messiness. The skills we learnt helped us show up differently in how we relate with our daughter, with more honesty, more care, and more choice in how we respond to each other. It wasn’t easy, but it’s been deeply worth it.

I did online DBT therapy from abroad, and it was honestly a great experience. The sessions were really practical and helped me get a handle on things like managing emotions and handling stress better. Even though it was virtual, the therapist made it feel super supportive and personal. It was way more helpful than I expected—would definitely recommend to anyone looking for solid DBT support!

Honestly can’t recommend this DBT service enough. The support, the practical tools, and the way everything is explained just clicks. I’ve tried therapy before but always felt a bit stuck—this actually helped me change things. The skills are useable in everyday life, and the facilitators really get it. If you’re on the fence, just go for it. Best decision I’ve made for my mental health in a long time. Had to wait for an assessment with my preferred therapist for a couple of weeks but it was worth it.

This therapy was an absolute game-changer for me, and I am so grateful for being able to access it online as I don't live in one place and travel a lot. Sessions were both structured and deeply impactful. They skillfully guided me through distress tolerance techniques that actually worked in moments of crisis, and emotion regulation strategies that have completely shifted how I manage my feelings these days. One of the most valuable aspects was learning how to break down difficult situations using behavioural chain analysis. This helped me identify the triggers, vulnerabilities, and unhelpful responses that kept me stuck. The therapist was incredibly knowledgeable, explaining concepts in a clear and practical way while also offering compassionate support. Thanks to this work, I feel much more in control of my emotions, better equipped to handle stress, and more confident in my relationships. If you’re looking for a DBT therapist who truly knows their stuff, I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Emotions like waves

True processing of emotions occurs only by allowing them to arise, exist, and dissipate within our bodies. This movement of emotions through our physiology is entirely natural. By cultivating the ability to fully experience our emotions, we gradually realise that there is no need to think our way out of them. The mind’s constant attempts to “solve” #emotional issues become unnecessary when we feel safe enough in our bodies to simply feel. Navigating emotions is a delicate process that involves welcoming, experiencing and witnessing the sensations that emotions bring, all within our capacity to do so. For many, this gradual process involves re-patterning learned responses of tensing, resisting and suppressing emotions, and it should be approached within the limits of your unique nervous system. Developing a healthy, #mindful relationship with emotions helps us reclaim the ability to interact with them in ways akin to interacting with #waves: ideally, we want to be able to surf them, but on some days, we might need to jump up to avoid being submerged or simply sit at the shore and observe them. If you have the capacity to be with a painful emotion, try the following steps: 1. Establish a connection with the ground, your breath, and your body. 2. Ask yourself, “What am I feeling right now?” or “What sensations are present?” 3. Acknowledge the emotion without judgment, for example, “Sadness is here.” 4. Invite and allow the emotion, asking, “Can I welcome this sadness, anxiety, etc.?” or “Am I okay with this anger being here?” 5. If you can, notice where in your body you feel it and gradually expand the sensations to other parts of your body. 6. Drop the story beneath the emotion. 7. Allow the sensations and observe any changes in their intensity, and ride the waves.

Four options for approaching difficulties according to DBT

You always have four options when approaching any difficulty in life! 🧠 Solve the problem This involves changing the situation you’re in or avoiding, leaving or getting out of the situation for good 🫀Change the way you feel about the problem This involves changing or regulating your emotional response to the difficulty 🧘🏻‍♂️Tolerate the problem Radically accept and tolerate the difficulty and your responses to it 😥Stay miserable (or possibly make things worse) #DBT can help with the first three options!
