About The Portland Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK
The Portland Hospital for Women is the only private hospital in the UK which focuses exclusively on providing healthcare to women and children. The team at the Portland is made up of over 600 highly skilled and experienced Consultants and nurses. Their cutting-edge facilities are spread across four sites and offer very comfortable surroundings. This is the largest private children's hospital in the UK and they are proud to have a dedicated intensive care unit with 58 paediatric beds and 155 consultant paediatricians. These specialists attend to children of every age, ranging from newborns to adolescents up to the age of eighteen. The Portland places enormous emphasis on the provision of safe and high-quality care for expectant mothers. In fact they are the only fully private maternity hospital in the UK, and more than 1,600 babies are delivered there every year. The on-site Urgent Care Centre treats children under 18 for non-life-threatening conditions as well as minor ones, with fast access to a rota of leading paediatricians, urgent care doctors and specialist nurses 365 days a year. You don't need to make an appointment. The hospital provides comprehensive children's services, delivered by leading consultant paediatricians and healthcare professionals. They're well know for superb maternity and a team of dedicated consultant gynaecologists supports women with a variety of gynaecological conditions delivering fully-integrated care.

Portland Hospital felt like an oasis for my 2nd birth after having spent a week at St. Thomas' during covid for my 1st birth (NHS) three years prior. I felt calm, safe, quiet, and respected. I had food, water, care and cleanliness. It was a completely different world. The only troubling thing is that I wish every birthing person could have this kind of experience. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and humanity when you're at your most vulnerable. The whole team at Portland was excellent.

The whole experience at the Portland has been absolutely amazing. It’s nothing short of the treatment you get at a 5 star hotel. All the midwives, nurses and staff are so friendly and you can tell they’ve been well trained. I gave birth there and they really care about you and your baby. The nursery is great as you can rest and leave your baby there overnight in good hands and they can bring the baby back for feeds. The food is great, your partner has a bed and you get so much support with feeding. Thank you to the Portland Team.
