A specialist eating disorder clinical psychologist is exactly what my daughter needed to help her, and I just wish that we had known about Treating Disorders 18 months ago. So glad that we came across them recently, as the treatment my daughter has received has been life changing for her.

I felt seen and heard and not judged one bit! I didn’t know how helpful CBT would be but it has transformed my life!

Working with Sophie at ThinWell therapies has helped me shift patterns I didn't think we're possible. It's given me a new insight into how my brain works and the tools to work with it, instead of it working against me. These are invaluable life skills that have the potential to change everything for me. I have seen fundamental shifts in my thoughts, behaviour and beliefs within just six months. Without the tools I learnt from Sophie, I know I would be struggling a lot.

My experience with Sophie has been transformative. Coming out of therapy, I feel so much safer in myself and aware of my triggers. I addressed so many areas of my upbringing, personality and belief system that I didn’t expect would be relevant but proved crucial to my progress. Each session felt tailored to what I needed and wanted. We explored various techniques and I’m particularly grateful for being guided in EMDR. I feel completely different to how I felt entering therapy, and I feel confident that I will continue to listen to myself and my needs.

Working with Sophie has been such a positive experience and allowed me to make significant progress in recovery. Sophie made me feel understood and her compassionate nature allowed me to be comfortable discussing difficult topics. Her extensive knowledge and ability to explain in ways I can relate to has been important to me, as has the flexibility of trying out different methods.

My nearly year long period of therapy with Sophie has been absolutely phenomenal. The positive changes in managing my eating disorder have been life-changing - something I never imagined I'd be able to have any impact on whatsoever in the huge amount of time I've been struggling with it. She helped me take back control of my day-to-day life, as well as processing an incredibly traumatic past with the help of EMDR. My sessions with Sophie were always filled with understanding and compassion, whilst still being focused on tackling what was important - making sure to always be there when the processing got too difficult. The end of our sessions together will be a great loss to me, but Sophie's services at the NHS will be a huge gain to those who need it.

I would struggle to summarise the impact that therapy with Dr. Bates has had on the relationship I have with myself, my friends, and my family. I came to Dr. Bates struggling to feel present with others yet scared to be alone. I was terrified of the future and felt burdened by the past. I felt powerless, unable to accept my past experiences and connect with my true feelings. I was extremely skeptical of therapy following negative experiences in counselling. Today, I feel transformed. Working with Dr. Bates allowed me to take the most difficult memories and experiences, process them, and repurpose them as a source of strength. Dr. Bates encouraged me to follow my intuition and allowed for flexibility in my therapy, which ultimately led to me finding trust and confidence in myself. Traumatic experiences from my past I previously denied are now places where I find empowering truths about myself. Dr. Bates created a safe space for me every week and stood beside me while I processed these difficult memories. I feel safe with myself and others. I am excited about what the future holds. And, most importantly, I feel truly present. I am so grateful, thank you again.
