The first words that come to mind when describing my experience and Dr Makalanda are - throrough - thoughtful - knowledgeable and very kind, all of which help a great deal when you are already worried and a little scared. Many many thanks to Dr Makalanda, his secretary and team.

Dr Makalanda and his team were professional in every way. They had a great understanding of my anxiety and managed it effectively, making the whole experience less stressfull. His bedside manner and procedure description gave me a significant level of confidence. I am certain I would not have undertaken the procedure had it not for Dr Makalanda's approach and personality. I can not recommend him enough , I am very thankful that I was lucky enough to meet him and benefit from his knowledge and expertise. An amazing man and Doctor

Dr Makalanda is amazing in all aspects. Informative and helpful in initial conversations, compassionate and clear in the choices which I had. Upon actually going to surgery I was initially put at ease and then the surgery itself appears to have been a complete success (fingers crossed) and following up Dr Makalanda’s communication and time was hugely important. I’d have no hesitation to recommend him and his office to anyone who needs care in this area.

For over two years I was tormented by Pulsatile Tinnitus. The noise was so loud it affected every part of my life. Along with the noise, I had constant headaches & dizzy spells. I was unable to sleep & depression was taking over. I was told time & time again. “Its Tinnitus, nothing can be done!” It felt completely hopeless. The surgery & work Dr Makalanda is doing, really is life changing, for so many people. After CT scans it was clear I had a blockage, in what I called my brain vein! Or Intercranial Venous Sinus. Yay, finally a diagnosis! When I met Dr Makalanda he gave me hope. Yes there were risks involved with surgery, but any surgery has risks, right? This surgery needs to be more widely available & GP’s educated that not all Tinnitus is the same! Dr Makalanda is a wonderful doctor, kind, caring & super clever! He explained the complicated surgery to me & throughout I felt in the safest hands. I will be forever grateful to him, for giving me my life. Silence now, really is golden.

I’m giving an outstanding rating because I came to Dr. Makalanda after having seen half a dozen doctors around my initial loss of hearing. This journey was over months up to a year+. At this point, I had lost hope that I’d be able to resolve my fast growing issues (loss of hearing in my single, right ear; imbalance; nausea; sound sensitivity; light sensitivity; migraines; pounding or throbbing in head). It turns out that I didn’t need an ENT or a neurologist but a radiologist. My root issue was that my left vs right vein didn’t drain the blood properly from my head into my body (near my right ear canal). My right vein was too wide and too narrow at parts where blood was pooling in a pocket. The doctor implanted multiple metal stents and coils which solve the original issues I went to see him about. It is possible to make your circumstances better and improve your health even if you’ve lost hope on what is possible. I’d wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Makalanda to any of my friends or family.
