Sticking a microwave needle into the business part of one's lower back to do a "nerve burn" isn't perhaps the most promising way to begin a conversation particularly when coupled with an outcome chance of 50/50 relief/no relief and even if relief there is, it can be significantly time limited. The thing is, if you have chronic lower back pain your life options are extremely limited. The cortisone treatments haven't worked and surgery is to be avoided unless you have no choice. This is worth a shot. In my case it has worked wonderfully well and I would recommend it if you are in my position, where chronic lower back pain steals your life. Dr Nikolic explained everything with crystal clarity and unabashed honesty. The procedure itself wasn't painful. It took a few days to start working and after about 10 days, I was completely pain free. All normal timelines. The other point is that my consumption of anti-inflammatory pain killers has ceased. Dr Nikolic is a truly wonderful surgeon and I cannot recommend him highly enough! He is clearly a gifted surgeon which goes without saying, but his bedside manner and way of explaining has made a potential gruelling experience as pleasant as it can be. I was pre-warned of all possible outcomes of my surgery, provided with enough information to read at my own leisure and through the trial of my SCS journey so far, I have felt very supported and reassured by both Dr Nikolic and his lovely secretary.
