Mr Angus Lewis, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, currently works at Charing Cross Hospital, which has recently acquired the unique status as the UK's first Academic Health Science Centre. He is highly specialised in performing hip arthroplasty reconstruction (primary and revision).
Mr Lewis graduated in 1994 from St Mary's Hospital Medical School London, after previously being awarded an honours degree at from UWE. Following this, he went on to complete his basic surgical training at King's College Hospital and his specialist orthopaedic training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital within the Academic unit. He completed his specialist training in 2006. During this period, he spent 12 months undergoing specialist training in pelvic and acetabular reconstruction surgery at St Georges Hospital. He was later appointed to the role of full time substantive Consultant at Charing Cross Hospital in 2006.
Mr Lewis has now developed a regional tertiary referral practice specialising in receiving pelvic referrals and treating patients requiring complex revision hip reconstruction across North West London. This service receives more than 70 referrals per year, making it a very busy practice.
Mr Lewis is an active researcher and has recently had the opportunity to be involved with academic orthopaedic research. He is currently pioneering research on computer-assisted navigation of reduction/stabilisation of pelvic and acetabular fractures, as well as detailed mapping of the pelvis. This research will significantly improve the understanding of the pelvic bone - which is hypothesised to possess the most complex biomechanical properties of any bone in the body. He is also a member of the London Hip Unit, which aims to provide high quality, accurate lower limb orthopaedic reconstruction.

No complaints at all except the letter to GP says 5 years post operation when it is in fact 10 years . But Mr Lewis knew this at the consultation so a slip of memory .

3 weeks ago Mr Lewis did a hip revision on my left hip. Unfortunately a couple of weeks before my date for it, I fell again so had to lie flat for the two weeks until he operated. This meant an extra long time getting a bit gloomy with the pain following the operation. Now I’m home and really getting going again. During all the time Mr Lewis and his team were so helpful. I feel confident that he has done a great job.

I am so delighted to have had the opportunity to have seen Mr. Angus Lewis to assess a hip issue which was concerning me for some time. He is very thorough in the details and explanations of the diagnostics/scans, which instills great confidence, along with his excellent manner and care throughout my visits. Mr. Lewis is clearly an expert in his field and was very generous with his time in answering questions with clear and helpful explanations and a very positive future outcome. I will (and have already) highly recommended anyone who has hip problems or concerns to see Mr. Angus Lewis.

Mr Lewis has a straightforward, extremely easy to understand, manner. Advantages and disadvantages were explored in detail. He instilled total confidence in me as a patient. He had a good sense of humour and respected me as a fellow (non-medical) professional.
