Mr Shahab Siddiqi is a Consultant General Surgeon at Broomfield Hospital. Within the Department of General Surgery where he is the Lead Surgeon for Pelvic Floor Surgery and Surgical Site Infections.
Mr Siddiqi's clinical interests are unusal for a colorectal surgeon and include pelvic floor medicine and surgery, pelvic pain, functional gastrointestinal disorders including IBS, diarrhoea, constipation, obstruictive defaecation, pelvic floor dyssyenergia and inguial hernia reapirs. He also has a specialist practice in pruritus ani. He continues to have a large volume endoscopy and colonoscopy practice and sees patients with abnormal qFIT results..
Since his appointment, Mr Siddiqi has initiated advanced robotic surgery using the da Vinci robot for pelvic floor conditions and has developed considerable experience in this type of robotic surgery. He has the largest UK eperience of robotic surgery for rectal prolapse. Mr Siddiqi has also introduced new and innovative therapies for faecal incontinence and constipation.
He has developed academic links with Anglia Ruskin University and is currently involved in surgical research projects in the fields of colorectal cancer and surgical infections. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the university.
He was on the editorial board for the Journal of Robotic Surgery and continues to peer reviews scientific articles for the British Medical Journal Case Reports.
