About Mr Saravanakumar Paramalingam

Mr Paramalingam qualified from the University of Sheffield, School of Medicine in 2002. Having completed his general surgical training in the South Yorkshire Deanery, he undertook higher surgical training in Paediatric surgery in the London Deanery, having worked in Kings College Hospital, St George's Hospital, Southampton General Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. During this time, he gained expertise in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery in children.

Mr Paramalingam was appointed as a Consultant Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon at the Royal Alex in April 2015, where he is the Audit and Research lead for paediatric surgery as well as the South Thames paediatric surgical network representative for the Royal Alex. He is a Senior Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and is the module lead for in the principals and practice of simulation in surgical training in the Surgical Sciences MSc.

He is an educational supervisor for higher paediatric surgical trainees, core medical trainees and foundation doctors at the Royal Alex. He is also the Specialist Training Committee representative for Brighton. Mr Paramalingam continues to present and publish his research in paediatric surgery in international conferences and peer reviewed journals.

He lives in West Sussex with his family and dogs and is enjoying country living since moving away from London.
